Recall advertisement templates
You can use the templates below to develop a newspaper advertisement for a food recall. The advertisement must be approved by a Food Act Officer before publishing.
The advertisement must:
- be a minimum of 2 columns wide by 10 centimetres in height
- have a cross-hatched border
- appear in the main body of the newspaper
- be approved by a Food Act Officer before it's published.
Other important points to note:
- Recall notices should exclude promotional information
- The company logo may appear in the advertisement but it should not distract from the recall message.

2 types of recall advertisements
There are 2 types of recall advertisements.
Ensure you use the right template for your type of recall.
Allergen warning template
Use this template to draft a food recall notice for products that contain undeclared allergens. The most common allergens are nuts, milk, soy, egg, fish, seafood and wheat.
You can save this template to your computer, complete and resize it as needed. (The 4 major newspapers have a 2-column width of 7.2 - 7.6cm wide.)

General products template
Use this template to draft a food recall notice for general food products.
If the product is being recalled because it contains undeclared allergens, use the allergen template instead.
You can save this template to your computer, complete and resize it as needed.
(The 4 major newspapers have a 2-column width of 7.2 - 7.6cm wide.)
